A grieving mother takes the LAPD to her own detriment when it stubbornly tries an obvious impostor as her missing child pass, but do not give up hope that they will one day find him.

Los Angeles 1928.Finding a single mother from work, her nine year old son disappeared.She calls the LAPD to initiate a search.Five months later, a boy in Illinois is found that fits the description, he says he is his son.To unite fanfare and photos, the LAPD mother and son, but she insists it is not his son.The cops dismiss her as either a liar or hysterical.When she joins a minister in his public criticism of the police, who in turn use government power to silence and intimidate.Meanwhile, a cop goes to a dilapidated ranch, a Canadian boy who no legal status has to find the youth tells a grisly story.There are remedies for murder, there is refuge for abuse of power?
